Amex-backed grant program supports 6 community-focused Toronto restaurants

Amex Canada has announced the six Toronto restaurants that have been selected to receive a $19,500 CAD grant each as part of the Backing International Small Restaurants program run by the International Downtown Association Foundation and backed by American Express.

Amid ongoing economic challenges, this grant comes at a pivotal time, providing selected recipients with financial support to help boost their business, support critical operating costs, and positively impact the experiences they provide to their communities.

See below for the fulsome list of selected restaurants who will receive the grant:

Bacan – A female-led, family-friendly LGBTQ+ business and a destination for authentic Argentine and Venezuelan food in Toronto’s Roncesvalles neighbourhood.

Tâm – Located in the Junction in Toronto’s west end, Tâm is a family-owned restaurant and café serving a variety of authentic Vietnamese fare and coffee.

Lakeview Diner – Open since 1932, Toronto’s beloved Lakeview Diner serves classic breakfast, lunch, and dinner dishes with 24-hour service.

MeNami Udon & Sake Bar – Located in the Yonge and Finch neighbourhood boasting rusty car grill décor and specializing in udon noodles made from scratch.

Gushi Japanese Street Food – With two convenient locations in the city, Gushi is the go-to destination for delicious, high-quality Japanese street food.

Pho Tien Thanh – Located on Ossington, one of the city’s trendiest strips, Pho Tien Thanh is a Michelin recommended no-frills soup spot with steaming broth and classic Vietnamese fare.
